Meeting started at 7:00 p.m.
Discussion of accepting minutes from October and November. Accepted as is.
Santa will be in Pine Brook on Monday, December 5, 2016, at the Pavilion Park. Children of all ages are invited to attend and greet Santa as he arrives on a Hampden Township fire truck. People should begin arriving at 6:00 p.m. and, if interested, bring a treat or dessert to share. The Pine Brook Civic Association will provide hot cocoa and a camp fire to keep warm. Anybody up for singing carols? The event is free and will take place during warm, cold, rain, snow or calm weather…..the pavilion is covered!
Normally the board does not have a meeting in December, but the President would like to have a meeting on December 19, 2016, at 7 pm, 420 Lamp Post Lane. All of the Block Captains would be invited.
Treasurer gave report. Costs are tracking expectations. Two residents paid dues via electronic means. These were 2016 dues still outstanding. Dues collection for 2016 were only 93% of expectations. 264 dues paid.
Discussion of tree maintenance for the PBCA parks. The board received three bids for pruning dead limbs and removing one tree from Front Park and Pavilion Park. The bids were about $2,300; $2,600 and for over $6,800. The board will examine the merits of each proposal.
Discussion of snow removal this winter. The company that had been doing the service will no longer remove snow. The board is in need of bids from interested companies or individuals.
Discussion of including names of new residents of Pine Brook in the newsletter.
The board is looking for suggestions of ideas for the board to consider in 2017. One idea is to attempt to convince the Township to allow for the replacement of trees between the sidewalk and the road. Need suggestions on how to attract new people to participate in PBCA events.
Discussion of perhaps starting a garden tour of Pine Brook. Perhaps open houses. Need someone to attend Township meetings to report on upcoming plans.
Discussion of creating doorknob hangers to remind residents that it was time to pay their dues. Perhaps also add a note to newsletter as the newsletters are delivered later. The secretary will look into costs.
Additional discussion of tree replacement. Perhaps talk to other neighborhoods to see if they would support pushing for an ordinance to allow small ornamental trees in the space between the sidewalk and street.
Discussion of electronic payment of dues. There is a cost involved in collecting. If this is promoted to all residents, the association could lose $3 per household from the people who have always paid via check. Would there be an increase in participation that would make up the difference. This would allow for faster payment especially via email reminders.
Next board meeting on Dec 19, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. at 420 Lamp Post Ln.
Meeting ended 8:03 p.m.
